Anglicans in Prayer: Raising Generations of Prayer Warriors for Global Missions

Imagine the impact of 75 years of faithful prayer for global missions, the unreached, and the persecuted church.

Imagine a five-year-old child learning to pray not only for their own family and community, but also for children around the world who are persecuted for following Jesus. Imagine that child praying for people who have never heard the name of Jesus and for missionaries willing to leave home, learn new languages and cultures, and faithfully share the hope of the gospel. Then imagine that child continuing those prayers throughout their lifetime.

What might God do through decades of faithful intercession?
Who might come to faith because someone consistently prayed?
What ministries might be strengthened?
What missionaries encouraged?
What lives transformed?

Prayer changes things because God moves through the prayers of His people.

In the summer of 2024, the New Wineskins Anglican Partners gathered during the ACNA Provincial Assembly. One of the task force groups focused specifically on prayer and asked an important question: How do we increase prayer for global missions, the unreached, and the persecuted church among the people in the pews - not only adults, but children as well?

Out of that vision, the Anglicans in Prayer (AIP) e-newsletter was born.

The Anglicans in Prayer e-newsletter is sent out once each month to mobilize Anglican churches and individuals to pray faithfully for global mission efforts and for our persecuted brothers and sisters around the world. Each month, the newsletter highlights a mission partner and shares stories of how intercessory prayer is impacting individuals, ministries, and communities. These testimonies remind us of the impact our intercessions can have. These prayers strengthen weary cross-cultural workers, open doors for the gospel, encourage believers facing persecution, and bring hope to people who are suffering.

One of the ways we desire to equip the Church to pray is by inviting believers to pray intentionally for our agency partners serving around the world. These missionaries are faithfully sharing the gospel, showing the love of Christ, and serving as the hands and feet of Jesus among the suffering, the persecuted, and those desperate for the hope found only in Him.

But Anglicans in Prayer is not only for adults.

Our desire is to help implant missional DNA in the next generation. We want children to grow up praying for missionaries, caring about the unreached, and understanding that God may one day call them to go as well.

That is why each issue includes a Children’s Corner, offering simple and engaging ways for children to participate in praying for global missions.

We have also created a simple tool called the 5-P Pocket Prayer for Global Missions — an easy prayer guide that children and adults alike can use anytime, anywhere. All you need is your hand.

The 5-P Pocket Prayer for Global Missions

  1. People who don’t know Jesus

  2. People who tell about Jesus

  3. Protection

  4. Provide for needs

  5. Peace

This simple prayer can be used while walking with your children, waiting in line, driving in the car, or sitting around the dinner table. It equips families to pray daily for global missions, the unreached, and the persecuted church in a way that is easy to remember and meaningful to practice together.

We believe God can use simple, faithful prayers offered over a lifetime to accomplish extraordinary things for His kingdom.
