The 111 Vision

As the Body of Christ, we have One Mission together to fulfill the Great Commission. We are called to live into God’s calling on their lives and to Be the one who shares their faith, to See the one who has never heard of Jesus, and to Share the One true God with the unreached. Everyone must do their unique part, but also we are on this journey together. The 111 vision and the little red 111 stickers serve as simple but effective missional tools for fulfilling the Great Commission - so easy to remember and share with others!

Hope Stirs in the Ashes

When wildfires tore through Southern California in January 2025, they left a trail of destruction and disarray. An accumulated 14 fires resulting from a trifecta of incendiary conditions—drought, heavy vegetation build up, and strong winds—burned roughly 57,636 acres and destroyed over 18,000 structures in only 24 days. Sources of water were scarce, schools closed down, and many transportation systems were not functioning. Eerie scenes remained. Driving through residential areas, one could see a single lonely chimney standing among ashes, while homes nearby were seemingly untouched.

The Power of Language & Culture Acquisition Ministry

While all believers are on mission, the how and where look differently. Some are called to leave homes, land, and families and go to distant places. This usually requires learning a new language and adapting to a new culture. If you’ve never tried it, this is not an easy task! It can be quite humiliating and overwhelming even for those who enjoy the challenge; and not all do. This definitely requires the Holy Spirit’s power! I would suggest that it is also a perfect opportunity for the Body of Christ to respond to Jesus’s command by offering support to the cross-cultural missionaries’ language and culture learning.

Odeke’s Journey of Calling and a Second Chance

When Rev. John Charles Odeke speaks about education, he does not do it casually. For him, the opportunity to study was never guaranteed.

“I was a school dropout,” he says.

Today, Odeke is a priest serving in Achukudu Parish in Napak District, northeastern Uganda. Heis also a theology student at Uganda Christian University (UCU) Mbale University College, through the support of UCU Partners. But his path to priesthood and theological training was marked by long periods of waiting.

A Diocese Committed to Mission: The Anglican Diocese of the Great Lakes

A Diocese with a Global Vision— Under Bishop Mark’s leadership, the Anglican Diocese of the Great Lakes has cultivated a deep commitment to mission—both locally and globally. The Diocese supports a sister diocese in Burundi, missionaries serving in multiple regions around the world, and several Anglican mission partner agencies, including Anglican Mission Africa, Church Army Africa, Ekklesia, United Adoration, and New Wineskins Missions Network. A Global Mission section in the diocesan newsletter regularly highlights this ongoing work and encourages engagement. Yet the heartbeat of this mission is not limited to diocesan leadership—it is reflected in the life of local parishes.

Mission Mobilization Has Been Slow… But God…

The Anglican International Student Ministry Network (AISMN) exists to mobilize, connect, and resource Anglicans to love, serve and learn from international students and scholars.

Since the birth of this first New Wineskins Missions Network in 2017 (during the ACNA Provincial Assembly at Wheaton College), we have sought to discover which churches—and who within ACNA—are involved in mission among international students.

Seeing the Fourth Generation of Impact

I got to see what most people never see: Transformation That MultipliesTimothy, orphaned at age six, is now a Coordinator in a Father’s Family program at another church in the diocese. He is strengthening families so the children in those families are not orphaned as he once was. In other communities, we see these families become role models, informal marriage counselors, and trusted advisors on how to save, invest, and build healthy families.

This is how transformation happens. It is not quick or always visible—but over time, it multiplies.

Mission Connection Between the Anglican Province of Myanmar and the Diocese of Cascadia

There has been on-going joint mission activity between the Diocese of Cascadia (Washington, Oregon and Alaska) and the Anglican Province of Myanmar for several years.  Cascadia has sent missions in the past to the dioceses of Yangon and Pyay in Myanmar, and Myanmar has sent some of their bishops to minister in Cascadia.  Unfortunately, this people exchange is currently curtailed due to the civil war in Myanmar.

On a diocesan level, the Dioceses of Cascadia, Yangon, and Pyay are companion dioceses.  Cascadia contributed funds to assist in the building of the new Pyay diocesan office building.  A delegation from Cascadia planned on attending the dedication of the diocesan office building in December 2025 but were asked by the officials in Pyay not to attend due to the civil war.  We look forward to the day when the civil war in Myanmar is over and the country opens again to in person mission activity. We have many friends in Myanmar.

Anglican Introduction to Missions 2nd Edition Available Now!

Anglican Introductions to Missions 2.0 is now available! We’re grateful that the Lord has been using an Anglican Introduction to Missions (AIM) curriculum  to spur both prayer for the nations and a passion for missions among those who participate in the course.  The curriculum has been instrumental in the sending of workers to the field in addition to opening the eyes of many in our congregations to the remaining task of global evangelization among the least reached people groups of the world. This curriculum, introduced at Provincial Assembly 2024, has been bearing fruit in churches and dioceses across the Province and is now available on Amazon as an updated second edition.

Why Come to the New Wineskins Conference?

The New Wineskins Conference (NWC), coming next month, September 17-20 in Ridgecrest, North Carolina - has become my favorite of many Anglican conferences I have attended through the years. Here’s why. More than any other gathering I’m aware of, NWC immerses orthodox Anglicans in teaching, worship, prayer, and conversation centered on our main calling as Christians: Jesus’ Great Commission to His Church, given in Matthew 28. Jesus commanded His church to go to the ends of the earth, and make disciples of all the nations. New Wineskins is all about mission – international, national, and local.…

Art as Mission: Becoming Missionaries of Beauty

People are looking for purpose and for the meaning of life and they are hungry for a spirituality that embraces all aspects of their person—including the imagination. This is a visual generation that is overstimulated by ever-present technology, endless news cycles, and the demands of social media. But for decades Christians have tried to reach the culture without some of the church’s greatest resources: beauty and the arts. Art has the power to touch people’s hearts and minds. One of the ways that we can bring hope to our world that is searching for answers is through the arts.

Worship with us at the 2025 New Wineskins Conference!

Each time believers from around the world gather at the New Wineskins Global Missions Conference, something deeply spiritual takes place, something far greater than a conference schedule or a series of talks. Worshipping together as a global body becomes a living glimpse of Revelation 7:9, where the Apostle John describes “a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb.”

Introducing Deacon Shelly Sorem as New Wineskins’ Assistant Director

My faith journey began at an Episcopal church that was meeting in a school. My husband and I began attending this church with our two young daughters because they were known for their kid’s program. The priest said the salvation prayer during one of the services and said if you’ve never given your life to Jesus, you can pray along with me and begin today. I repeated the words he said silently in my head and began following Jesus.…
