Each year, fifty days after Easter, Christians around the world gather to celebrate Pentecost — a moment of divine power, purpose, and promise. It is the birth of the Church, and marks the day the risen Lord Jesus Christ fulfilled His promise by pouring out the Holy Spirit upon His followers. What began as a group of frightened disciples hidden in an upper room transformed into a bold, Spirit-empowered Church sent to the ends of the earth with one mission: to make disciples for the glory of God.
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
What began with fear is overtaken by power; what began with confusion is overtaken by clarity and conviction. As recorded in Acts 2, the Holy Spirit came upon the gathered disciples like a mighty rushing wind. Tongues of fire rested on each of them, and they began to speak in the languages of the nations. The message was unmistakable: the Gospel was not for one people group or nation — it was for all. The mission had begun. And it hasn’t stopped.
Pentecost is not just an historical event; it is a movement that continues today. The same Spirit who filled the disciples fills every believer. Jesus’ charge in the Great Commission was: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…” (Matthew 28:19). It is a reminder that the Church is not meant to stay in one place or remain silent. We are called to go, to be sent, and to take the name of Jesus to the ends of the earth. Let us not merely celebrate Pentecost. Let us live it — empowered, emboldened, and sent for the glory of God.
We live in an age of unprecedented opportunity. The Gospel is reaching people in remote villages through technology, refugees are hearing the name of Jesus in their new lands, and missionaries are being raised up from countries once considered mission fields. Pentecost reminds us that every language, every culture, and every people are within reach of the Gospel — and the Church must be willing to go.
New Wineskins Missions Network joyfully announces that our Hope for the Nations 2025 global missions conference will be grounded in this very spirit of Pentecost.
This conference will serve as a catalytic moment for God’s people to discern their role in His global mission. We believe this conference will be full of divine appointments, calls to the mission field, and the birthing of new ministries. Many will be deeply touched—compelled to support missionaries through giving, committed prayer, or ongoing partnership with other Anglicans to advance the kingdom of God around the world.
A major highlight of the conference will be the commissioning of our young Role Call Apprentices, who will be launched into their 9-month cross-cultural apprenticeships. These young adults are stepping into a new season of Spirit-led obedience, and we will all have the privilege of sending them out in power and prayer — just as the early Church sent out its first missionaries.
This is the beginning of something new — not just a gathering of believers, but a participation in what it means to be the Church of Jesus Christ: a Spirit-filled, Spirit-led, Spirit-sent people.
