2025 New Wineskins Conference Mission Bookstore

When you attend the upcoming 2025 New Wineskins Global Mission Conference: Hope for the Nations this September, we highly encourage you to visit our mission bookstore. Mission education is crucial to Christian discipleship, church growth, and our active participation in the Great Commission to “go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19a). From time-tested missional resources to recent publications that provide new insight into the complexities and realities of global mission, our mission bookstore offers a wealth of collected knowledge and experience. This year, our bookstore will once again be led by Cedar Springs Christian Store Inc., Knoxville, TN.

Our mission bookstore will feature a diverse collection of both new and time-tested books on global mission, evangelism, theology, Anglican liturgy and tradition, persecuted church, and more! Many have been written by authors from the Anglican world, some of whom have presented or spoken at previous New Wineskins Conferences. Whether you have a long-standing history in missions involvement or are just getting started, this is a great place to deepen your knowledge and engage with vital equipping resources.

Read on for an introduction to one of the books that will be featured in our mission bookstore at the 2025 New Wineskins Conference, Bill Taylor’s Leading from Below: Lessons from the Crucible of Global Mission.

What does it mean to lead from a position of humility, calling and service?

In Leading from Below: Lessons from the Crucible of Global Mission, Bill Taylor shares insights learned from six decades of cross-cultural ministry. Bill, (Dip-Missions, BA, ThM, PhD), with sixty years in global mission service, is a lifelong mentor, author, with 17 years in Latin America leadership training and church planting. That was followed by two years on the faculty of Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and thirty years with the Mission Commission, World Evangelical Alliance. He currently serves as president of TaylorGlobalConsult. For eleven years he taught the DMin course, “Ministry in Missiological Perspective”, at Trinity Anglican Seminary. He has been a plenary speaker and seminar leader at New Wineskins.

This narrative theology of leadership combines elements of stories, autobiography, theological insight, and practical guidance where leadership lessons emerge more from the crucible of life rather than books, podcasts or seminars.  Bill’s honest stories not only reflect vulnerability, but also the strength to live into the sometimes-painful, often-inscrutable promises of God. He reflects on his Third Culture Kid life, grapples with the slippery slogans of missions, he discovers his core theological convictions modified during those six decades, encounters the Holy Spirit in new dimensions of presence and power, and seeks to make sense of the many mistakes he made. He concludes with a series of reflections on leadership and finishing well.

Leading from Below is both inspirational and instructive. It is designed to encourage and equip leaders with a framework of leading with integrity and a Christ-centered perspective. During the Taylor’s 17 years based in Guatemala on the faculty of Seminario Teoógico Centroamericana, Bill never dreamed he would emerge as a leader. Yet, step by step leadership came to him, he was invited to assume key tasks, but always returned to his former roles and status. Those long years in Latin America became his testing and experimental arena for leadership. That in turn prepared him for the 30 years with the Mission Commission of World Evangelical Alliance. During that season, he oversaw the production of a library of print resources, with “global voices addressing global issues”.

What are people saying about Leading from Below?

“If you want to be a Christian leader, beware of reading this book! William Taylor has crafted a masterpiece on the dangers of leadership in the modern world, providing practical principles out of his life experience to serve as the Lord Jesus calls you.”

–Foley Beach, Former Archbishop and Primate, Anglican Church in North America, Bible Teacher

“With characteristic self-deprecating humour behind a very serious intent, Bill Taylor has combined a fascinating autobiographical kaleidoscope of incidents and relationships in his own life story (some of which I have been privileged to share), with sobering and thoroughly biblical insights on what Christlike leadership ought to look like in Christian church and mission circles - but sadly often doesn’t. If you know Bill and Yvonne, this book holds great memories, but few surprises in its message. If you don’t, prepare for the challenging and mentoring arm around the shoulder of an older brother who has walked the long road and kept on learning all the way.“ –Chris Wright, PhD, Global Ambassador, Langham Partnership
