Focus Shift: Anglican Healing in Mission Network is now the Anglican Renewal and Healing Network
The Healing in Mission Network of New Wineskins has a new name! We are now calling ourselves the Anglican Renewal and Healing Network. This demonstrates our sense that the work of our network is meant to be broader than healing as it relates to mission, to also encompass matters related to the renewal of individuals and communities.
What is Church renewal? It’s what happens when the love of the Holy Spirit comes alive so that Jesus becomes Lord over our whole lives; our relationships become centered on God’s love; and His mission is central to our mission. Divine healing is certainly a part of that, and we do not desire to lose that emphasis. Rather, we see it as one essential expression in the renewing work that God is doing today in His Church.
Recently, Rev. Zach Croonquist, co-leader with me of this network, met for two days to pray and dream about the future of our network. Like the other New Wineskins networks, our network continues our work in-between the triennial New Wineskins Conferences. At the 2025 New Wineskins Conference, our network ran a pre-conference called “Plug into the Power.” That pre-conference focused on equipping the saints for healing ministry. One highlight was that we all saw a creative healing miracle in our midst that only God could do! Conference ministry will remain important to us, since renewal and healing work often progress well in such settings.
Here is an event of note since September. In February 2026, The American Anglican Council (AAC) and Sharing of Ministries Abroad (SOMA) hosted the first provincial renewal conference in five years called the Rehydrate Conference at Christ Church Anglican in Savannah, Georgia. 150 of us came together for 2 days of vibrant Spirit-filled worship and soaking; excellent plenary teaching and workshops; joyful networking; and extended times of prayer ministry. Our theme was “drink deeply, live fully, and pour abundantly.” The response was overwhelmingly positive, and we’re now planning our next Rehydrate conference in a few more months (location and dates tba). We repented of many of the sins of the renewal movement from the past, we received impartation of spiritual gifts for ministry, and we were inspired to take the gospel to the ends of the Earth.
Our vision for the future of the Renewal and Healing Network includes expanding it to bring on additional advisors; to communicate regularly with each other through a newsletter and Zoom meetings for mutual encouragement, learning, and mutual ministry; and to seek out opportunities to work together to advance the ministries of renewal and healing in our Province.
We’re also planning to hold a gathering - a colloquy - over a couple of days for leaders who are interested in fostering renewal in our Province. This would include an honest assessment of past efforts at renewal - where we went wrong and where we got it right; and what can be done now to foster real renewal given our current realities. It will also include prayerfully dreaming about God’s desired future for our Province.
If you are interested in becoming part of our rebranded network, or any of the things we mentioned above, please do write to Clancy Nixon at cnixon@americananglican.org. We’d love to connect with you in this important work.
Please pray for us, for New Wineskins, and for our Province.
